Only in Williamsburg Only in Williamsburg ......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. Only in Williamsburg .....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke. Only in Williamsburg .....do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters. Only in Williamsburg.....do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. We Miss The SnowBirds! Have you noticed how quiet it is around Waterview? It must be because the snowbirds have left for their northern homes. They miss the hot sticky days of Florida summers in exchange for the their hot sticky days in Minnesota, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Indiana, Maryland and other states. While they are visiting their families and friends, we are all busy watching their homes, picking up the random papers at the door and on the driveway, pull a stray weed and providing an extra drink of water to lonely plants. We wonder if they appreciate our concern and effort – and then we remember – of course they do. They stay in touch on email, Facebook and Twitter – and jump right back in the mix of the community immediately upon their return. They’ll be back soon – and we’ll start planning the Fall activities, Holiday Mixers and of course, visit the best pizza place in Orlando at Oakridge & OBT – Rossi’s. Life will be good once again. What is this Social Media Craze All About? In One Word: Connections! If you have no idea what Facebook, Twitter, Four Square and LinkedIn is all about – you are not alone! These are the latest methods of staying in touch with friends & family as well as the preferred method for expanding your business contacts and growing a business. Just as online dating has changed the way people meet and form relationships – the Social Media Bonanza is taking over the world of relationship enhancing opportunities. Mobile uploads from smart phones havebrought instant connections in words & pictures. Privacy is no longer sacred and joining a thread (conversation) can provide more entertainment than the Golden Girls & Mash weekend marathons! And we all thought email was terrific! It almost seems like old technology at this point. If all of this seems confusing, don’t worry – phones still work if you would like to talk to someone. The post office is still accepting cards and letters. And texting will not replace a cup of coffee with your buddies at McDonalds or Publix. Relax, the world is upside down any way – and you may as well hold on for the ride and enjoy the things that still seem normal in your life. Your kids & grandkids can demonstrate the basics – and you’ll be LinkedIn or Tweeting before you can text your favorite news organization and vote on their evening poll question.
